Funding and Other Assistance

There are many federal, state and regional programs that offer developers, property owners and business owners assistance. In addition to the TIF incentives offered through the City of Waukegan, the following offices and organizations may also be able to provide financial assistance for your project.

  • State of Illinois, Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO)
    The state’s lead economic development agency, DCEO is charged with enhancing Illinois’ economic competitiveness by providing technical and financial assistance to businesses, local governments, workers and families.
  • Lake County Partners
    Lake County Partners transforms economic opportunities into business realities by facilitating public/private collaboration to improve the business climate in Lake County.
  • Acción Chicago
    An alternative lending organization dedicated to providing credit, including micro loans, and other business services to small business owners who do not have access to traditional sources of financing.
  • Waukegan Main Street
    A volunteer-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and preservation of historic downtown Waukegan.
  • Landmarks Illinois
    The state’s leading voice for historic preservation, Landmarks Illinois works with citizens and communities throughout the state to preserve threatened historic resources.
